400 mayors , from cities all over the world , will be at Florence on the occasion of the 2011 World Council of United Cities and Local Governments . The event was organized by the mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi , and will be held from 9 to 11 December of the Palazzo Vecchio and the Palazzo dei Congressi near Hotel Economici Firenze
The United Cities and Local Governments is the largest international organization of local governments , representing nearly half the world’s population, present in 36 countries and 112 cities with over a thousand associations. Among the mayors expected, the Italians of Turin, Piero Fassino, the Reggio Emilia and president of ANCI Graziano Delrio , of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, including foreign ones, the mayors of Istanbul , Paris, Lisbon, Nairobi, Taipei, Philadelphia , Dakar, Barcelona.
In conjunction with the UCLG congress will be held at Palazzo Vecchio also the National Council of ANCI (Dec. 9) and Florence light design.
